2003-2004 Season

Since I moved into my house in November 2003, I was only able to work two of the major DX contests in the 2003-2004 season. With very little contesting experience, and a very modest antenna system (Cushcraft R8 and an 80M inverted V dipole at 60'), I did not post very large scores for this season. Still, I think I was pretty darn competitive.

2004 ARRL International CW Contest

Multioperator Single Transmitter
229,320 Points, 392 Q's, 195 Mults
Stats in class (adjusted): 2/3 in NH, 9/13 New England, 20/55 US, 23/81 World

Although I submitted my log as Multioperator Single Transmitter, this was really a Low Power Single Operator Assisted effort. Mike, N1IW, was nice enough to come over and help me make the first 20 or so Q's of the 392 I worked in the contest, so I submitted the log under both our call signs. The stats aboved are adjusted for the Low Power Single Operator Assisted class.

2004 ARRL International Phone Contest

High Power Single Operator Assisted
738,504 Points, 789 Q's, 312 Mults
Stats in class: 2/9 NH, 10/29 New England, 42/141 US, 50/169 World

This was my first High Power Single Operator Assisted effort, and I had a lot of fun in this contest. It gave me a wee taste of what it would be like to be loud.

2004-2005 Season

The goal for this season has been to put in an all-out effort to work the four "majors". I made a large number of improvements to the station this season, the most important of which were the addition of a SteppIR 4 Element Yagi and an Alpha 87A.

2004 CQWW DX SSB Contest

High Power Single Operator Assisted
2,113,308 Points, 1,331 Q's (unofficial)
Stats in class: N/A

My goal for this contest was to break one million points. I wound up breaking two million points, which was really an amazing feeling for me. The station played really well, and the band conditions were really good compared to what they could have been.

2004 CQWW DX CW Contest

High Power Single Operator Assisted
1,068,310 Points, 821 Q's (unofficial)
Stats in class: N/A

My goal for this contest was to break one million points or 1,000 Q's. I wound up just making one of these goals, and it was hard work getting there. I had a lot of fun in this contest, just wondering what the UBN's will do to my score. I hope one million points holds.
