Current Antennas

These are the antennas currently in use at N1IK.

  • SteppIR 4 Element Yagi
Primary antenna for the high bands.
  • Cushcraft R8
Emergency antenna for the high bands, and useful as a quick way to work mults when the SteppIR is pointed in the wrong direction.
  • 40M Dipole
    40M flat-top dipole running N-S at 45'.
  • 80M Inverted V Dipole - CW
80M inverted V dipole at ~60' running N-S for Europe, cut for CW.
  • 80M Inverted V Dipole - Phone
80M inverted V dipole at ~60' running N-S for Europe, cut for phone.
  • 160M Inverted V Dipole
160M inverted V dipole at 80' running N-S for Europe. Covers 1.8-1.9 MHz < 2:1. I use a TEN-TEC Model 238 B to tune it for the rest of the band.
  • K9AY Loop
K9AY Loop from the man himself.

Future Antennas

These are the antenna projects underway at N1IK.

  • 40M Four-Square
40M four-square project is in the materials aquisition phase. I have the Comtek Systems Phased Array controller, phasing lines, and 5 Rohn 5' tripods for the verticals. The four-square will use aluminium radiators and will be elevated a minimum of 8'.
  • 80M Four-Square
80M four-square project is in the materials aquisition phase. I have the Comtek Systems Phased Array controller and phasing lines. The four-square will use aluminium radiators and will be elevated 10'.
  • E-W Beverage
360' reversible beverage system running E-W using a DX Engineering DXE-RBS-1P. I have the DXE-RBS-1P, and when the ground isn't frozen, it's going in.
  • N-S Beverage
360' reversible beverage system running N-S using a DX Engineering DXE-RBS-1P. I have the DXE-RBS-1P, and when the ground isn't frozen, it's going in.
